| Een leeuw schenkt het leven aan een welp. Deze voorstelling is afkomstig uit een voor-christelijke tekst, de Physiologus. Hierin wordt verteld dat welpen dood ter wereld komen en pas de derde dag tot leven worden gewekt door de adem van hun vader; net zoals de Almachtige Vader zijn Zoon na drie dagen uit de dood bevrijdde. A Lion gives life to a cub. Lion cubs were thought to be born dead until, on the third day, they are brought to life by the breath of their father, therefore the lion was symbolic of the Resurrection.
